By choosing a Financial Planner who is a Certified Financial Planner and Member of the Institute of Financial Advisers (IFA) you are automatically covered by certain codes of conduct, guarantees and safeguards. The IFA is the professional body and certifying agency for over 1400 investment and insurance advisers, and financial planners throughout New Zealand.

Members of the IFA undertake to abide by the IFA Code of Ethics and Practice Standards in all facets of their work, and are: 

• Fully committed to only ever acting in your best interests
• Dedicated to a high standard of ongoing education and professionalism
• Required by law to make a full disclosure of any remuneration, other rewards received, limitation of advice, or conflict of interests
• Actively encouraged by the IFA to work for fees tied to performance, rather than be commission based
• Offer an IFA Disciplinary Resolution procedure for your protection
• Must have professional indemnity insurance
